What’s been happening:

Just prior to graduation, I went to work for Michael Baker Jr Consulting Engineers in Harrisburg. I left Bakers to return to my home town of Rural valley where I worked as a surveyor's helper for a natural gas acquisition company. I began my employment with the Commonwealth in "77" as a Forest Patrolman assigned to District 8's satellite office in Butler County. After spring fire season I transferred to the Bureau of State Parks to supervise the salvage of tornado damaged timber in Cook Forest State Park. In 1979 I was hired as a Forest Foreman to supervise the Young Adult Conservation Corp at Shawnee State Park in Bedford County. When funding for this program was cut, I transferred to the Harrisburg office as a Forest Tech assisting with noxious weed control in State Parks. I left Parks in May of "82" to join the Bureau of Forestry's Division of Forest Pest Management. Here I was assigned to FPM's Eastern Area (Forest Districts 17-20) under entomologists Mike Blumenthal and Greg Hoover. In March of "85" I was hired as a Forest Fire Inspector for the eastern half of the Bureau's Forest District 8 where I remain to this date. I married Penn State grad Caroline (Selker) Fisher in 1988. Our son, Joseph, will attend PSU Dubois this fall majoring in financial management. As a grandson of Burton R Rearick Jr (41), Joe will be a third generation Penn Stater.
